Our Justice System is Broken1 out of every 100 Americans is behind bars. The U.S. spends $80 billion a year on incarceration. 70 million Americans have a criminal record. In too many neighborhoods, young people of color are more like to go to prison than college.
Democrats and Republicans alike agree, it’s time to fix our broken criminal justice system.
We have a critical moment of opportunity. Democrats and Republicans have worked together to introduce several bills in Congress this year. Both parties agree it’s time to fix our broken criminal justice system. Building on these bills, we need to see comprehensive criminal justice reforms this year.
The passage of major legislation now would start the process of transforming the system and millions of lives.
With enough voices, we can push Congress and President Obama to work together in getting comprehensive reforms passed and signed into law by the end of 2015. Let's Do It.
