Closing the Door on Torture

Torture may have made some Americans feel better in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. It may have made them feel that the government was avenging our fallen compatriots. But... "the harsh interrogation methods did not succeed in exacting useful intelligence."

Whether or not it ever gleans useful intelligence, however, is beside the point. The question isn't whether torture works. Torture is immoral.
