There's more 'dark money' than ever in this year's election

The upcoming midterm election is on track to be the most expensive midterm cycle in American history, estimated to clock in at close to $4 billion

The amount of 'dark money' — funds used for election campaigns not disclosed to voters — spent this year has already surpassed $100 million, and the Center for Responsive Politics estimates that figure will at least double by Election Day.
