End of Canada's "Innocence"

Canada’s Parliament Hill came under attack on Wednesday when a man with a rifle shot and killed a soldier standing guard at the National War Memorial in downtown Ottawa before seizing a car and driving to the doors of Parliament Hill's Centre Block nearby. Prime Minister Stephen Harper  condemned the 'brutal and violent attack' and vowed 'Canada will not be intimidated.'

+ This is the second attack on Canadian soldiers this week. On Monday, an Islamic convert ran down two Canadian soldiers with his car near Montreal before being shot dead by police.

+ However, it’s unclear whether this incident is tied to terrorism. Canada announced this month it was joining the battle against Islamic State fighters who have taken over parts of Iraq and Syria.

+ Either way, the attack represents, for many, “the end of Canada’s innocence.”

+ Canada just showed the U.S. media the exact right way to cover a shooting.
