Oglala Commemoration: School Drive

Hello Everyone,

This year's school supply drive was a great success. Filled backpacks were handed out at the property to all the kids in attendance, and the remaining boxes went to the family of Mariah. As you may recall Mariah Montileaux was another victim of teen suicide. The family has her room set up for her friends that come to visit her memory. There is a table and chairs set up, along with a note book so friends and family can sit and write their feeling when the pain gets tough. The remaining school supplies were left there for Mariah's friends to come and fill up backpacks with supplies for the upcoming school year.

This year's upcoming school supply drive will continue. Hopefully it will be just an annual thing and no "In Memory" this year. So while you are there picking up school supplies in the next few weeks, remember the kids on Pine Ridge. Where education funding is in the bottom 10% of our Nation. You may pick up items and either bring them to upcoming places we will be set up at. Mail them, or you may send a donation and I will pick them up for you. Now and for for the next few weeks supplies are cheap, so keep that in mind, while you are out shopping. Or make it a group thing.
