Free Peltier and Rally Against the "Redskins": September 12

September 12th is Leonard Peltier's Birthday AND Tulsa Union “REDSKINS” vs. Jenks at Union Tuttle Stadium.

Look at the top of this page: There is no honor in this type mockery of Indian people. We must stand together to stop the use of these type derogatory Indian mascots.

Leonard Peltier is America’s unfinished business and a symbol of the injustice perpetrated against all Indians. It is time to stop the 33 years of injustice and is 33 years too long to have imprisoned an innocent man.
Freedom for Leonard Peltier is way overdue!

Leonard Peltier's first full parole hearing was held in 1993, at which time his case was continued for a 15-year reconsideration. He'll be eligible for another full parole hearing in December 2008. An application for parole will be filed at Mr. Peltier's discretion. The earliest that hearing is likely to occur is in January 2009 (according to the Parole Commission's schedule for in-person parole reviews to be held at USP-Lewisburg, where Peltier is currently imprisoned).

Naturally, if Leonard Peltier were to be transferred to a different facility or if the Parole Commission were to add Lewisburg to its list of facilities where hearings are conducted by video-conference, the date of his parole hearing would likely change.

If you haven’t signed the online petition already please do so at

We will meet at the Tulsa Union Tuttle Stadium at 5:00 pm in the parking lot and assemble on the public sidewalk. Please bring signs and banners for both Leonard Peltier and against the use of mascots specifically the “REDSKINS”. Remember THERE IS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!! WE NEED ALL OKLAHOMA INDIANS TO COME TOGETHER FOR THIS PLEASE.

Directions: Union HS is located in SE Tulsa, just West of Hwy 169, near the intersection of 71st Street and S. Mingo Road. Since Woodland Hills Mall is on 71st Street, traffic is usually congested on game days. We recommend taking the 61st Street exit off Hwy 169 and then proceed West to Mingo, then South toward 71st. Union HS will be on your R. Take the first entrance to the school, which is at 66th (stoplight). Mapquest:
